چکیده
The present study experimentally investigates the effective reduction of wake-aerofoil interaction noise in a tandem aerofoil configuration using trailing-edge sawtooth serrations. far-field results clearly show that at ‘head-on’ wake impingement, use serrations on front can lead to substantial approximately 10 dB without any noticeable increase other frequencies and changes directivity pattern. Subsequently, detailed near-field measurements were carried out investigate further flow dynamics associated with noise. field unsteady loading suggest primarily takes place within first 30% chord close leading-edge area, while towards trailing-edge, is influenced more heavily by boundary layer development. velocity wall pressure fluctuation spectra significant decrease energy frequency content structures over range after due modification turbulence This leads notable aerodynamic loading, particularly lift direction. Further coupled pressure–velocity analyses reveal modify dominant eddies spreading it wider range. Near-field coherence also reveals loss coherence, thus abatement radiated experimental are relevant practical applications rotor–stator outlet guide vanes.

Performance and mechanism of sinusoidal leading edge serrations for the reduction of turbulence-aerofoil interaction noise
This paper presents the results of a detailed experimental investigation into the effectiveness of sinusoidal leading edge serrations on aerofoils for the reduction of the noise generated by the interaction with turbulent flow. A detailed parametric study is performed to investigate the sensitivity of the noise reductions to the serration amplitude and wavelength. The study is primarily perform...
متن کاملAn experimental study of airfoil instability tonal noise with trailing edge serrations
This paper presents an experimental study of the effect of trailing edge serrations on airfoil instability noise. Detailed aeroacoustic measurements are presented of the noise radiated by an NACA-0012 airfoil with trailing edge serrations in a low to moderate speed flow under acoustical free field conditions. The existence of a separated boundary layer near the trailing edge of the airfoil at a...
متن کاملThe Effects of Ridge Excrescences and Trailing-Edge Control Gaps on Twodimensional Aerofoil Characteristics
Wind tunnel measurements of the effects on twodimensional section characteristics of square ridge excrescences and of some gaps typical of those found round trailing-edge controls have been made at high subsonic Mach number and at Reynolds numbers up to 15.6 x 106, based on section chord length. The incremental drag due to a square ridge was found to be generally underestimated by applying an e...
متن کاملStatistical Estimation of Turbulent Trailing Edge Noise
A new computational aeroacoustic model suitable for the prediction of turbulent airfoil trailing edge noise is presented. The method (known as the RANS based Statistical Noise Model or RSNM) combines numerically generated, mean turbulence information with a Green’s function for a semi-infinite half-plane to generate a far-field acoustic auto-spectrum. As a preliminary application of the method,...
متن کاملComputation of Trailing Edge Noise with a Discontinuous Galerkin Method
Trailing edge noise of a semi-infinite, thin, flat plate situated in low Mach number flow is computed in two spatial dimensions. The Acoustic Perturbation Equations (APE), which are employed as governing equations, are discretized via a Discontinuous Galerkin Method (DGM). Results are compared with theory and Finite Difference (FD) computations. Next to the radiated sound field, special attenti...
